Providing an AI-driven platform to support families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Social Problem

  • Fragmented Support: Hong Kong families with children with ASD face disconnected services. Long government service waitlists (up to 36 months), language barriers (Chinese-dominant services) leading to risking misdiagnosis, and hidden idle resource among small NGOs,.
  • Unaffordable Therapy: Private ASD therapy costs (HKD 15k-150k/month) are prohibitively expensive, excluding many families and straining even middle-income households.
  • Language Exclusion: Non-Chinese speaking families, often financially constrained minorities, lack accessible ASD services due to the dominance of Chinese-language support.
  • Family Strain: Raising children with ASD often causes severe emotional/financial stress, especially for single parents. Mothers often quit jobs for caregiving, resulting in reduced household income.

  • AI-powered 24/7 Support:Our AI tool provides immediate, round-the-clock ASD advice, eliminating traditional service time constraints to deliver personalized, scalable assistance.
  • Bilingual & Locally Relevant Resources:Chinese/English content addresses cultural nuances, offering Hong Kong’s multilingual families (including ethnic minorities) high-quality, locally tailored information.
  • Integrated Support Ecosystem:Combines online community interaction with offline expert referrals (therapists/NGOs/parent networks), creating a one-stop platform for all ASD journey stages.

Expected Social Impact

  • Recruit 180 parents online and 100 parents during outreach sessions to use the platform
  • Recruit 15 experts, including ASD specialists, therapists, educators and legal professionals
  • Refer 10 cases to experts or small NGOs
  • Recruit 50 parents to join the community feature of the platform
  • Reach 1,000 families through organising and co-organising 5 outreach activities
  • Reach 20,000 viewers through producing YouTube episodes focused on ASD awareness
