Hybrid mode communication skills training to empower low-income family students

Providing a hybrid learning program for about 1,250 upper primary and lower secondary school students so that they will no longer be restricted by language and communication barriers, expand their opportunities to enter top local universities that require more solid DSE English scores, and enhance their academic performance in higher education; overall competitiveness in education and the workplace; leading to their upward mobility.

Social Problem

  • Low educational attainment, among other factors, increased the probability of being poor
  • Outside school financially disadvantaged students can hardly afford extra educational activities
  • A vicious cycle of poverty is thus easily perpetuated. A vicious cycle is that their lack of motivation will lead to a lower chance of success in learning English

Social Innovation

  • Our innovation uses composite AI (including generative AI), decision science modelling and applied psychology to complement human training to, creating a hybrid learning experience that has proven effectiveness
  • Students who were too shy to speak up in school or class setting are able to learn with privacy, correct their pronunciation and presentation skills based on prompt and precise feedback from Self-Learning Program Think & Speak with Moddie.ai trainer

Expected Social Impact

  • Providing a cost-efficient hybrid learning program to 1,250 students from low-income families
  • Partnering with 50 schools (25 primary schools; 25 secondary schools) to provide students with 20 hours of classroom training
