New Year red packets carry multiple meanings of blessings! During the Lunar New Year, giving red packets is a tradition that symbolizes the wishes of elders for the younger generation. While we celebrate the festival in Macau, many children are limited by poverty and lack opportunities for family education and future choices! This Lunar New Year, let us donate a red packet to send wishes and hopes to left-behind children, enabling their physical, mental, and spiritual development and fulfillment, pursuing their dreams and creating a better future!

In mainland China, a large number of left-behind children are separated from their parents who going to work elsewhere, even before they learn to speak. They are often cared for by single parents or grandparents, which undermines the effective support needed for their learning and behavioral habits, impacting their growth and psychological development. Some children may even develop severe psychological issues.

Oxfam is dedicated to supporting left-behind children in China, implementing child development programs in regions such as Guizhou, Gansu, and Shaanxi to enhance their life skills and sense of independence. For example, in Bijie City, Guizhou, services are provided to improve life skills and promote healthy living among left-behind children. In Gansu, we support teachers training in mountainous areas to increase children's interest in learning through games and stories, improving their physical and mental well-being. We also advocate for improved policies to equal education.

• Provide homework tutoring and character education 

Provide homework tutoring, character education, and extracurricular activities for left-behind children to promote their physical and mental health development. 

• Teachers training

Support rural teachers to participate in teaching and child psychological counseling training to provide the best support for left-behind children. Assist teachers in implementing activity-based teaching, developing diverse teaching materials, and creating a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment to enhance students' interest in learning.

•  Family and guardian support through community engagement 

Invite guardians to participate in parent-child activities, helping them gain scientific parenting concepts and enhance their caregiving abilities, thereby creating a nurturing family environment for children.

• Enhancing social worker capabilities and training 

Increase social workers' awareness of children's rights, protection, and participation, while also improving their skills in planning child services and leading activities.

Prizes	Participating schools will be awarded appreciation certificates Donations of MOP 5,000 or above will have a free Oxfam"Leftover to Jam" workshop "School Fundraising Award" and "Individual Fundraising Award" with Champion, 1st  and 2nd runner up, each receiving a trophy and Oxfam gifts
