The venture recruits the homeless, grassroots children and the elderly to take part in co-creating solutions that enhance their competence and autonomy in tackling their problems and improving their quality of life and mental health.

Social Problem

  • The homeless is mostly socially disconnected with the society
  • Children from low-income families lacks opportunities to develop skills to learn autonomously and to explore knowledge of their interested fields.
  • The rate of elders staying in elderly homes diagnosed with depression is 15% higher than that of elders staying in hospitals.

Social Innovation

  • This project empowers users by providing design-thinking and co-creation experience which enables them to transform the shared open space in service centres to a prepared environment. The transformation will boost users’ learning autonomy and facilitate activities within the environment.

Expected Social Impact

  • 30 homeless participants develop at least one skill or interest
  • 30 elders enhance their living comfort in residential care homes or elderly centres
  • 30 grassroots children acquire scientific knowledge and skills in self-directed learning
  • Conduct 3 sessions of staff training and workshops to equip them with the skills to co-design spaces with users and increase space usage rate and users’ ability to conduct self-directed learning.
  • Conduct 3 sessions of place-making workshop cum sharing
